ExxonMobil and American Idol
ExxonMobil is proud to support "Idol Gives Back" and has been a chief corporate sponsor since 2007.
"dol Gives Back" is American Idol’s special fundraiser focused on fighting extreme poverty in the U.S. and Africa. In addition to generating over $140 million in proceeds, Idol Gives Back also raised a great deal of awareness among the American public of the challenges impoverished communities face.
ExxonMobil has donated approximately $14 million through American Idol Gives Back, enabling the distribution of hundreds of thousands of bed nets throughout disease-stricken communities in Angola.
Additionally, ExxonMobil has hosted trips to Africa for American Idol finalist Elliott Yamin, Idol winners Fantasia Barrino and Carrie Underwood, Idol Judge Kara DioGuardi and actor and malaria-champion Forest Whitaker. During these trips to Angola, Idol talent witnessed firsthand the Idol Gives Back donations at work, distributed bed nets, visited malaria clinics and shared the progress being made in the fight against malaria with the tens of millions of viewers during the Idol Gives Back broadcast.
